Semantic fusion of laser and vision in pedestrian detection
نویسندگان
چکیده
Fusion of laser and vision in object detection has been accomplished by two main approaches: (1) independent integration of sensor-driven features or sensor-driven classifiers, or (2) a region of interest (ROI) is found by laser segmentation and an image classifier is used to name the projected ROI. Here, we propose a novel fusion approach based on semantic information, and embodied on many levels. Sensor fusion is based on spatial relationship of parts-based classifiers, being performed via a Markov logic network. The proposed system deals with partial segments, it is able to recover depth information even if the laser fails, and the integration is modeled through contextual information— characteristics not found on previous approaches. Experiments in pedestrian detection demonstrate the effectiveness of our method over data sets gathered in urban scenarios. & 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

متن کاملDistributed Pedestrian Detection Alerts Based on Data Fusion with Accurate Localization
Among Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) pedestrian detection is a common issue due to the vulnerability of pedestrians in the event of accidents. In the present work, a novel approach for pedestrian detection based on data fusion is presented. Data fusion helps to overcome the limitations inherent to each detection system (computer vision and laser scanner) and provides accurate and tru...
متن کاملAdaptive Bayesian Combination of Features from Laser Scanner and Camera for Pedestrian Detection
This paper describes how multisensor data fusion increases reliability of pedestrian detection while using a Bayesian combination of features. The clue is to combine in a probabilistic framework, the detecting capabilities of sensors for identifying pedestrians located along the vehicle trajectory. The work emphasizes the idea of redundancy due to the different nature of the information provide...

This paper introduces active pedestrian protection system (APPS) project, which was fulfilled during last three years (Nov. 2006 – Oct. 2009) and supported by ministry of knowledge economy (MKE) of Korean government, and then summarizes its achievements. To reduce the number and severity of vehicle-pedestrian accident by active safety vehicle (ASV), false alarm rate should be minimized. For thi...
متن کاملVHR Semantic Labeling by Random Forest Classification and Fusion of Spectral and Spatial Features on Google Earth Engine
Semantic labeling is an active field in remote sensing applications. Although handling high detailed objects in Very High Resolution (VHR) optical image and VHR Digital Surface Model (DSM) is a challenging task, it can improve the accuracy of semantic labeling methods. In this paper, a semantic labeling method is proposed by fusion of optical and normalized DSM data. Spectral and spatial featur...
